What is Matariki?
Matariki
Matariki is the Māori name for a large group of stars  which you can see in the night sky at a specific time. In June and July Matriki will appear in the night sky and then it will be a start of a Māori new year it is also a time to celebrate a new life for people who have passed it is also a great time to spend with Whānau and friends to enjoy all sorts of things.

Our ancestors would find Matariki for help with their gathering. When Matariki left in April and May it was time to gather crops for the cold winter coming when Matariki appear again in June and July the tupuana (ancestor or grandfather) would read the stars to say the coming season. The dates of Matariki can change every year.

How many stars does Matariki have?

Dr Rangi who has been studying Matariki for thirty whole years. As part of his studying Dr Matamua found out that some of his ancestors have seen nine stars in the sky. Each star holds a special significance over our good and environment as seen from Māori views of the world.

Gravity

W.A.L.T organizing text into each paragraph.
Today I was learning about gravity.
I enjoyed making this because gravity is a very fun thing to learn about.
My digital learning object shows I know about gravity and what it is.

Gravity

How come when you jump you don't float? Well it’s because of gravity. Gravity pulls you down so that means you can’t float. Do you wonder why whenever you chuck a ball it doesn’t float? It just flops to the ground. No matter if you throw anything in the air it is coming down. Gravity is a force that naturally pulls objects towards each other.

Boinks are this little spring action toy that technically flies when you push the boink down and then let it go it flies into the air and then it falls back to the ground because of gravity.

Dropper Poppers are this rubber bandy circle red thing. It is like a cannon and you stick the ping pong ball in it then it flies in the air but then it falls because of gravity.

My group found it easy to connect the wires to the batteries
My group found it hard to make the light bulb glow.
Next time we would love to make the light bulb glow.

Explanation
Where does the electricity in your torch come from? I think it comes from the wires and batteries because batteries have power in them and wires also have power and them so I thought that is where the electricity comes from.

What is electricity? it is source of power that we all use for our technologies and other things.

What did you have to make the bulb glow? we used 2 c batteries 6 wires 1 tin foil 1 piece of card paper and a bulb
