Ice Candles

 Yesterday we made ice candles for a science experiment I think that it was an amazing experiment  it was so fun and I really enjoyed it and if you were wondering how do you make them? well here are the steps!

Firstly you need some old candles that you don't use or work anymore then you want some used foil or cardboard milk containers then you wanna rinse them with water then cut the top off after you have cutted it off you put some oil down the bottom then you wanna rub the oil on the sides after you have done that you can put your old candles in a pan on your stove or you can put them in while your doing your oil then you stick the candle you want to use in the oil then you grab some ice cubes after you have grabbed your ice cubes and have made them go all the way up the top you grab your candle wax and pour it in the milk container since we did it at school we had to wait til the next day for them to dry when you might want to wait til the next day for it to dry then when your done you want to get your ice candle out of the milk container you should have it looking like this!

 Today for cybersmart we have practically started our summer learning journey. The process was watch the videos on our class sight then we went to the website to do our art there were options to choose the art to do I chose to do the wave  you could see the original then you can start your colouring.

wspaper of the police being trapped by nets also if you were wondering what the recruit is it is this book that me and my class read every afternoon after lunch I think I have done a very good job what do you think? Here it is

 

Spooky House - Reading

 On Monday for reading we got to design our own SpOokY house you could either do it on your chromebook or do it yourself on paper or in buddies I chose to do it digitally and do it independently the book was about this family who moved to a new house apparently it was a spooky house and people heard stories that a old scientist used to live there one time a lady saw smoke come out of the chimney and the family decided and the kids friends decided to explore the attic people said never go in the attic but the kids mum elbowed the door and it was open then the mum's son ben was in there eating chocolate because he worked at a chocolate factory. This is my SpOoKy house!!

 Inference is a conclusion reached on the basis of evidence and reasoning inference is making sure you are right and the people who were moving their stuff were unsure because they heard spooky stories about the house I thought this because that is what I think it means to Infer.

The Story Of Parihaka

 For the past week me and my buddie Mya have been working on a feather for Parihaka. Parihaka is about  and the government promised the Māori that they would be able to keep possessions of the land the Māori didn't want to leave so they pulled the pegs out and then the government said you have 14 days or you will be removed they didn't listen and then loads of soldiers came and then the two chiefs Te whiti and Tohu got put and jail and then they died. Thank you letter

 Today I am posting my thank you letter and I have chosen to send mine to the bus driver Ray the reason I chose him is because he is the bus driver that drove me and some of the other classes to tui ridge camp there was also another bus driver but he wasn't my one so I chose ray who was my bus driver they were very kind because they let us eat and drink in the bus when it was raining on the day we were traveling back from Rotorua so here's my letter

Dear Ray.

I am writing to you to say thank you because of all the amazing work you have done to get us to Rotorua and from Gisborne and back to Gisborne again you also drove us safely and even after the luge when it was raining you even let us go into the bus to eat our lunch which was very kind of you to do. When everyone was shouting and being noisy you just let us keep on being it 

My favorites were Slingshot Paintball, Flying fox, Nerf wars, Paradise valley, The luge. Were all very exciting and fun to do because some of these activities I have always wanted to try but never got to well accept for nerf wars and the luge when I went to the slingshot paintball I was like oh no! This is gonna hurt and it kinda did but I didn’t want to be a baby so I kept all my pain in.

So thank you Ray for all of the hard work that you have done for all of us. You are the best!!

October Reflection

 Today at school we did our October reflection we do our monthly reflections every month because we can reflect on what we have done this month I love to reflect on what I have done each month because then I can remember about things do you and your class do monthly reflections?

I found it easy to do my photo because it is quick and easy

I found it tricky to choose a background cause there were so many colors to choose from

Today for Cybersmart we made a pop art digitally the person who inspired us was Andy Warhol we used this website called Lunapic here is the link click here.  
if you were wondering how to use Lunapic you take a photo of yourself then you go onto Lunapic and then click upload photo and then click art then sketch2  then it will take you to it and then you click one of the effects and then it will show you what it looks like and then click file then save image.
I found it easy to upload the images.
I found it tricky to put the link in because it wouldn't work.
next time I could choose different effects.

This week for Cybersmart we were learning to engage the reader its called a Sisomo which means Sound, Motion, Sight we could either choose Wevideo Canva Book creator and also google drawing me and my buddie Mya chose to do goggle drawings because Mrs Torrie told us we weren't aloud to use google slides so we pushed it to the side 

I enjoyed posting it onto my blog so then people could see what me and Mya did 

I found it tricky to choose good places around Gisborne because there is so many to choose from 

Maybe next time we could change the background and choose different fonts

Biosecurity

This week for reading we read about biosecurity you are probably wondering what is biosecurity? well this is what it is. Biosecurity is where someone is checking peoples bags to see if they have anything that shouldn't be in there like dairy products or diseases or even pests! these things should NOT be coming into New Zealand because then it could hurt our native animals. 

I enjoyed making this so then people know not to bring in diseases pests or dairy products

September Reflection

 Today we made our September Reflection to reflect on what we have done this month. I like doing reflections because you can tell what you are good at like Reading and more things. It's so fun to do and make and also fun to publish to my blog. Here is my September reflection.

Book Creator

 For the past two weeks me and my class have been creating a book about Maori words and you got to choose what you wanted to do it on my reading group were reading a book called Mossie which is about a boy from Australia but knows Maori so you could do a book about mossie or other things in Maori I chose NZ native animals it took a while for me but it didn't take a while for other people

Maara Kai

On Thursday me and some of my class did Maara kai. I have created a Canva showing some pictures of me and my group. If you were wondering Maara kai is like MasterChef. My group and me created a very healthy dish which was really good because we got to have the leftovers we also made a smoothie which was very healthy as well and also very yum our judges were for the groups were the Principal and a Teacher.

Tracey Taphiwo Art

 For the past 3 or 4 weeks we have been making these newspaper arts mine took awhile because I could not find a newspaper that has something that has to do with me until I found one. After I finished it I had to publish it to my blog it took me awhile to get it done on my google drawing but I finished it which is good here is my Tracey Taphiwo are also if you are wondering who is Tracey Taphiwo she is a artist who finds newspapers and finds words that has to do with her and does it but here is mine below!!!!

August Reflection

Animals Should Not Be Kept In Zoos - Writing

Yesterday and today we did writing to practice for our speeches coming up so we did it about on how animals should not be kept in zoos and this is the reason why they shouldn't be in there.

Would a zoo be a good place for animals?

I strongly believe that animals should not be kept in zoos. It is Cruel for them because some of the babies get taken away form their Mums, taken away from their habitat, go into cages and need the zoo keepers to feed them Tourists feed them junk food and it makes the animals unhealthy when they go to the zoo some of their natural hunting goes away because the zoo keepers feed them and that means they don’t hunt anymore. When Baby elephants are taken away from their Mums, they go through depression.

Our animals need to be saved and be happy.

Sacraments Of Initiation

 Today we did R.E. we made a poster about the Sacraments of Initiation. We had to do a Sacrament a Symbol of it and the Ritual of it. For the baptism I did a bowl of water because when you get baptized you get welcome to God's house I did a Bishop because we have bishops there when we go to church and I also did a glass of wine and a bread because that is the blood and bod of Christ. 

I found it tricky to get it finished because I kinda forgot about some of it but then I remembered.

Maybe next time I could add a better background and some more fonts.

Design Your Own Super Snake

This week we have been reading about the titanaboa, the biggest snake in the world. It is extinct. It could attack crocodiles and strangle its prey until the preys heart stopped beating or it stopped breathing. The titanaboa could not be eaten by anything else because it was at the top of the food chain. It was as long as a bus and its body came up to our chests. It became extinct because of climate change. It got too cold and snakes are cold blooded and they need heat for energy. The titanaboa could not keep its huge body warm.

We got to design our own super snake that could protect itself from predators and survive in the wild. We could make it in our reading book or on our chromebook. I chose to do it on my chromebook on a google drawing. I made a snake with two heads so it could attack two prey at the same time. I used the same snake and then cutted one of them and left the head. The tail can slap the person attacking it. If the super snake does get killed it can respawn and come alive again.

I found this reading activity very quick and easy and fun to do. Maybe next time I could use some more things on my snake but I am still very happy with it. Here it is below!!
